Piano Teaching Philosophy

As a piano instructor, my teaching philosophy is based on the belief that every child and adult student has the ability to learn and enjoy music. My goal is to help each student reach their full potential and become well-rounded musicians. I strive to create a learning environment where students feel supported and motivated to excel. Through their piano lessons, students gain the technical and musical skills necessary to play the rich and diverse canon of piano repertoire. I emphasize the power of regular practice and encourage my students to establish a consistent practice routine. I strongly believe that every student can play well if they are taught correctly and stay committed.

About me

Laura is a solo and collaborative pianist and instructor located in the Bay Area. She is regularly invited to teach and perform internationally. Laura has taught on NYU Adjunct Faculty, The New York Piano School, Third Street Music School and The Vienna Piano Summer School, to name a few. She earned her Master of Music in Piano Performance and Advanced Certificate in Piano Pedagogy at New York University, where she studied with Eteri Andjaparidze. Prior to this, Laura studied with Steven Mayer at the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music.

Bay Area Piano Lessons for Kids

All students qualify for a non-binding trial lesson. Following the trial lesson, students register for monthly 4-lesson packages, $380 for 45-minute lessons. Our youngest beginners 8 and under can begin with monthly 4-lesson packages, $280 for 30 minute lessons. 30-minute lessons are only available for our youngest beginners. Payment is due on the 1st of the month, for the entire month. Lessons take place in our studio location in Sunnyvale, CA.

FAQ

  • Absolutely not! Adults piano lessons are some of my favorite classes to teach. They often come ready to learn and motivated to play songs they always dreamed of playing! While I enjoy working with advanced pianists returning to the keyboard, It's never too late to start and progress is possible for everyone.

  • Kid and adult piano students are expected to take at least one lesson a week. We will work together to schedule a lesson time that regularly works for both of us. Kid and Adult piano lessons take place in our studio in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, NYC.

  • The trial lesson is a non-binding opportunity to see how we work together. It is, however, a formal piano lesson charged at full price.

  • Piano lessons for kids and adults take place in our studio location in Sunnyvale, CA.

  • Between weekly kid and adult piano lessons, students are expected to practice at home. Students can either purchase a new or used 88-key weighted keyboard, or an acoustic piano.

  • Every student has their own individual goals. As a teacher, I provide clear instructions on how to practice at home, so you can make the most of the practice time you do have. Practice time will differ depending on age, level, and goals of each individual student.

  • I accept cash, check, Venmo and Zelle. Payment is due on the 1st of each month, for the entire month.
